Baby-led Weaning Garlic Chicken Breast Bites
Why I Love This Chicken Breast Recipe for BLW
Chicken Breast is a go-to in our home for family meals. It’s so versatile and can be used in various cuisines. It’s also perfect for baby-led weaning.
Chicken is also cheaper than pork and beef.
As a busy mom of a baby and a toddler, I’m constantly looking for quick meals I can feed them, that’ll also be great for the whole family.
Meat is something my kids struggle to eat. The only way I’ve successfully gotten my toddler to eat meat is with chicken nuggets.
I knew I needed to improve my culinary skills. So when my baby was ready to start baby-led weaning, I began creating new recipes for chicken breast.
This is one of the recipes I created. It’s so simple and delicious. They both love it. I hope your kids will love it too.
The best part is that it takes only 5 minutes to make.
The benefit of chicken for babies and toddlers
Chicken has many benefits for our bodies. It contains proteins that help repair our cells and build muscle mass.
It also contains essential vitamins like niacin, B6, and B12. These vitamins help your body make DNA and make energy (source).
Giving your baby chicken during their baby-led weaning journey should be something you try to do often.

Serve with a side of creamy cheddar rice

Try my creamy cheddar rice for baby-led weaning. My kids absolutely love it. For kids who can be picky with food, they lick the bowl every time when I make this.

FAQs about chicken for babies and toddlers
How to feed chicken to 6 months old
It’s better to feed a 6-month-old very large piece of chicken. The pieces should be large enough to fit over two adult-sized fingers pressed together. This will make it easier for the baby to hold and self-feed without fear of choking.
You can also opt to feed your 6-month-old chicken drumstick if you’re afraid to feed them chicken breast. Just watch out for small pieces of chicken that can break off from the whole piece.
How to feed chicken to 9 months old
Between 8 – 9 months old, most children should be more experienced with eating chicken to handle thinner slices. You can serve chicken to a 9-month-old by cutting the pieces as long and wide as one adult-sized finger. This will make it easier for them to eat.
How to feed chicken to a 1-year-old Toddler
You can feed chicken to a 1-year-old by cutting them into small bite-sized pieces. Toddlers 12 months and older can handle small pieces of chicken.
Storage Tips
You can safely store this chicken in a Pyrex container for up to 3 days. It’ll retain its flavor for a long time.
