To save time, I’ve used premade waffle mix in the past.
If you’re doing this method, you need to get the “just add water “ types.
Those will ensure that you can follow my recipe directly by replacing the water with milk.
I prefer using Kodiak Cake pancake and waffle mix for this recipe.
The recipe comes out well when I use this brand.

Milk – I use lactaid milk because I’m lactose intolerant. You can use a milk alternative as well if you prefer.

How To Cut Applesauce Waffles For Baby-led Weaning
6-9 Months old
For babies just starting baby-led weaning, waffles should be cut into long strips. The strip should be the size of two adult-sized fingers pressed together.
9-12 months old
Babies and toddlers ages 9 through 12 months old can have waffles cut into small squares.
These will be easy for them to eat since the pincer grasp would have been developed.
12- 24 months and older
Kids ages 12 through 24 can have waffles cut however they feel more comfortable.

- Combine all wet ingredients in a bowl (applesauce, eggs, maple syrup, milk, oil, vanilla). Don’t overmix.
- In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients (all-purpose flour, and baking soda).
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients with a rubber spatula. Don’t overmix.
- Prepare your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Pour some batter into the waffle iron to cook. Continue until you’ve used up all the batter.
- Serve and enjoy!
