2-Ingredients Blackberry Pancake For Baby (no egg)
The other day, I was looking for ways to use up some old blackberries I had in the fridge. So I decided to make blackberry pancake for baby.
This pancake is great to feed kids for baby-led weaning because it only uses 2 main ingredients; flour and blackberries.
It’s one of those pancakes that’s freezer-friendly and can be made ahead of time. You can also make these BLW blackberry pancakes with no eggs if you prefer.
Why I Love This Baby-led Weaning Blackberry Pancake
There are many reasons why I love this blackberry pancake for baby-led weaning.
The first reason is that you can make it without eggs if you want. I used mashed bananas in place of eggs for this recipe because I ran out of eggs.
I’ve also made it with eggs in the past and it has come out good.
There are many other egg substitutes you can use. See below for some options.
Another reason I love this blackberry pancake for baby is that it only uses two main ingredients.
All you need is flour, baking powder, baking soda, and blackberries.

Whenever I’m short on time, I like to use premade pancake mix. My favorite is Kodiak Protein Pancake Mix. It’s packed with nutrients and great for the whole family.
Bananas are optional
I added bananas to this blackberry pancake for babies and toddlers as an egg option.

You can use eggs if you want
If your baby isn’t allergic to eggs and you want to use it for the blackberry pancake, then follow this instruction.
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg first before adding the blackberries. Don’t mash the blackberries. You can then combine both wet and dry ingredients.
You can use baking soda or baking powder
You don’t need both baking soda and baking powder to make this baby-friendly blackberry pancake.
You can use either or. I like using both because I have both on hand. In the past, I’ve used either one and they turn out just fine.

What to serve with BLW Blackberry Pancake
Bacon for toddlers
If you’re making this recipe for your toddler you can serve it with bacon. I wouldn’t give bacon to babies because of their high sodium content.
Serve blackberry pancake for baby with fruits
Fruits like strawberries and grapes would go well with BLW blackberry pancakes. Of course, you can use other fruits of your choice as well.

10-12 months old
You can cut blackberry pancake for baby into small chunks between 10-12 months old. Kids this age would have mastered eating smaller pieces of food
12 months plus

Tips for Picky Eaters
Don’t pressure
Give your baby or toddler a chance to say no. It’s okay if they don’t like what we serve them. Keep trying.
It takes at least 30 exposures for a baby to begin liking a food, so don’t give up.
Make it into a game
Sometimes I create games around the food I serve to get my kids interested in eating.
A game we’ve played in the past is called “Here comes the airplane… open the garage”. This encourages them to open their mouth as I bring the food in like an airplane.
Sometimes my kids will try new foods this way.
