What to serve with BLW Apple Blueberry Oat Pancake
Serve with a side of fruits
Fruits are my favorite additions to baby-led weaning meals. They go with everything from breakfast to dinner. This apple blueberry oat pancake will taste so much better if paired with some fruits on the side.
Serve it with Jam for your toddler
If your toddler finds it difficult to try new foods, you can add some jam for dipping the pancake into. I do this with my toddler when he’s hesitant to try new foods. By giving him something to dip the pancake into, I remove the pressure of eating the food from him.

Don’t pressure
Give your baby or toddler a chance to say no. It’s okay if they don’t like what we serve them. Keep trying. It takes at least 30 exposures for a baby to begin liking a food, so don’t give up.
Have your child help you make the pancake
One of my toddler’s favorite things to do is help me mix pancake batter. Whenever I’m cooking in the kitchen, I invite him over to help, and he’s always so excited to eat the food he helped me prepare.

Ingredients for Baby-led Weaning Apple Blueberry Oat Pancake
- Eggs – This pancake recipe uses eggs to help the batter bind together better. I’ve experimented in the past with using no eggs and the batter was just to watery.
- oats – This is the main ingredient. You can use any type of oats you want. Some use quick oats for baby food while others use rolled oats. I used rolled oats for this recipe
- Blueberries – Blueberries provide the pancake with a subtle sweet flavor and its signature blue color.
- Apple – Apples give this pancake a delicious sweet flavor
- Baking powder – necessary to help the pancake rise
- Baking soda – also helps the pancake rise
- nut butter – whatever type you prefer. I used peanut butter. Nut butter helps the pancake batter bind well together. Makes it less watery.
